Gamithromycin is a new type of semi-synthetic macrolide veterinary antibiotic. It is one of the representative drugs of the second-generation macrolide antibiotics developed by Merial, France. It has antibacterial and bactericidal effects by inhibiting bacterial RNA-dependent protein synthesis. Gamithromycin has high antibacterial activity against hemolytic Mannheimia, Pasteurella multocida and Mycoplasma bovis, which cause bovine respiratory disease (BRD). It has a broad antibacterial spectrum and strong antibacterial activity. It has the advantages of rapid absorption, wide distribution in the body, low residue in the body and high safety. It is widely used in the clinical treatment of bovine respiratory diseases caused by bacterial pathogens such as hemolytic Pasteurella, multocida Pasteurella, and histophilia.
Pharmacological action:
Like other macrolide antibiotics, gamithromycin binds to the 50S subunit of the ribosome of sensitive bacteria, preventing the extension of the peptide chain and affecting the synthesis of bacterial proteins, thereby playing an antibacterial and bactericidal role. Gamithromycin mainly acts on pathogens that cause bovine respiratory diseases, such as Mannheimia hemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, and Histophilus somnus. In addition, it has good in vitro antibacterial activity against the pathogens of bovine contagious pleuropneumonia - Mycoplasma mycoides subspecies, Streptococcus equi zooepidemicus, and Rhodococcus equi that are resistant and sensitive to macrolides, as well as Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. Gamithromycin has antibacterial and bactericidal effects, and has good antibacterial and bactericidal effects on the main pathogens that cause bovine respiratory diseases, as shown in Table 1.
