Florfenicol is a synthetic monofluorinated derivative of thiamphenicol, which is white or off-white crystalline powder and odorless. Very slightly soluble in water and chloroform, slightly soluble in glacial acetic acid, soluble in methanol, ethyl alcohol, easily dissolved in dimethylformamide. The pH value of 0.5% aqueous solution is 4.5 ~ 6.5. The proper mixture of ethanol, polyethylene glycol 400 and dimethylformamide can increase the physical stability of this product in water.
