Product Description

Sulfamethazine is a sulfonamide antibacterial agent with an antibacterial spectrum similar to that of sulfadimethoxine. It has antibacterial effects on non-enzymatic Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp, Salmonella spp, Shigella spp and other Enterobacteriaceae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis and Haemophilus influenzae. However, the bacteria are more resistant to the product, especially Streptococcus and Neisseria spp and Enterobacteriaceae.

It is used to prevent and control infections of Staphylococcus and Streptococcus lysis, and has an inhibitory effect on bacteria such as Streptococcus haemolyticus and Streptococcus pleuropneumoniae, and mainly treats poultry cholera, poultry typhoid and chicken coccidiosis.
Sulfadimethoxine is a broad-spectrum bacterial inhibitor with para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), which acts competitively with PABA on difolate synthase in bacteria, thereby preventing PABA from being used as a raw material for the synthesis of folic acid required by bacteria and reducing the amount of metabolically active tetrahydrofolate, which is required for the synthesis of purine, thymine nucleoside and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in bacteria. Sulfadimethoxine therefore inhibits the growth and reproduction of bacteria. The effect of sulfadimethoxine is antagonised by PABA and its derivatives (procaine, bupivacaine), as well as by the presence of pus and the breakdown products of tissues, which provide the necessary substances for bacterial growth.
