Ceftiofur Hydrochloride is an antibiotic. It has a broad-spectrum bactericidal effect and is effective against both gram-positive and negative bacteria, including lactam producing bacteria. Sensitive bacteria mainly include Pasteurella multocida, Pasteurella haemolytica, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Haemophilus, and some other pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus resistant to drug.
The third-generation cephalosporins for animals are mainly used for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by sensitive bacteria in pigs, cattle, horses, dogs and one day old chickens.
Ceftiofur Hydrochloride can be rapidly decomposed into furoic acid and defuranoyl cefotaxime, which are active and can inhibit the cell wall synthesis of sensitive proliferative bacteria (the third stage). Its antibacterial spectrum is similar to that of cefotaxime. Cefthifur has a wide antibacterial range in vitro and is effective against many pathogens, including Pasteurella, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Salmonella, Escherichia coli and many other bacteria
